Of these the Y-shaped flyover will start from Ram Jhula railway overbridge (ROB) and proceed till Shrimohini Complex Square on Kingsway. Maha Metro will demolish the existing Station Road flyover -- which has proven to be a design disaster -- for building this proposed road.

The traffic improvement scheme has different components including a Y-shaped flyover and railway under bridge (RUB) near Loha Pul. Owing to COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on various activities some works faced adverse conditions. Despite these Maha Metro is executing Jaistambh Traffic Improvement Scheme at Municipal Corporation” read a statement issued by Maha Metro on Friday. The project with an estimated cost of Rs 234 crore comprises four components namely Y-shaped flyover RUB near Loha Pul cement-concrete road and multi-level parking plaza. Of these the Y-shaped flyover will start from Ram Jhula railway overbridge (ROB) and proceed till Shrimohini Complex Square on Kingsway. There it will bifurcate towards RBI Square and LIC Square. The total length of the flyover is about 850 metres. The flyover will be two-lane between Ram Jhula and Shrimohini Complex and single-lane between Shrimohini Complex and RBI Square as well as Shrimohini Complex and LIC Square. The pier cap work of the flyover is in progress. The fabrication of girder is going on at a fast pace. As far as the other three components are concerned the RUB near Loha Pul will be constructed using push box technique. The RUB will be 47 metres long 12 metres wide and 4.5 metres high. It comprises two parallel boxes one of which will have a 1.5 metre wide footpath. The fabrication of the two push boxes is nearing completion and they will be pushed below the railway line when Maha Metro gets a block from Central Railways. The cement-concrete road and junction improvement of Manas Square entails construction of a six-lane 950 metres cement-concrete road on Tekdi Road between Manas Square and Jaistambh Square. The road below the under-construction flyover will also be concretized. Maha Metro will demolish the existing Station Road flyover -- which has proven to be a design disaster -- for building this proposed road. It has constructed 70 shops near the railway station to rehabilitate shopkeepers having their establishments below the flyover. NMC has been given the task of rehabilitating the shopkeepers and the process is in progress. Further a multi-level parking plaza is proposed to be constructed near Nagpur Railway Station on land belonging Ministry of Defence Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation Madhya Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation and Indian Railways. It will have shops for the shopkeepers having establishments below the existing flyover. In addition it is proposed to have 12 bus-bays parking slots for about 500 cars 550 two-wheelers and 600 bicycles. According to Maha Metro the plaza will be connected to Nagpur Railway Station and Ganesh Tekdi Temple by a foot overbridge.
