MVA unlikely to have alliance in NMC polls By Vikas Vaidya : Congress firm on going alone; Sena NCP too are ready to contest on their own What State Congress President Nana Patole said recently that his Party would go alone in all Assembly polls has sent ripples throughout Maharashtra. It is unlikely that Mahavikas Aaghadi (MVA) constituents will have alliance among themselves in upcoming polls including Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) elections to be held in 2022. Unlike last municipal elections this time there may be different political equations in Nagpur. In last elections every party had contested polls independently. In fact since last several municipal polls everybody witnessed fight mainly between Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This time Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Shiv Sena have prepared to provide tough fight. Though Mahavikas Aaghadi is running the Government in State it is unlikely that all the three parties would contest Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) elections together. Vikas Thakre Nagpur District Congress President said “As our President said we will go alone in every poll and NMC elections are no exception. We will contest all seats in NMC on our own and establish power also.” Meanwhile after Patoles statement NCP State President Jayant Patil has made it clear that NCP and Sena will have alliance in every polls. When these developments were brought to the notice of Duneshwar Pethe newly-appointed President of city unit of NCP he said “We will abide by whatever our leaders ask us to do. We are in the process of bringing the good works of our Supremo Sharad Pawar to the notice of common public. This time election specialist Prashant Kishor is with us. If all the alliance partners decide to go alone we have prepared ourselves to contest alone and win the polls. But it will not be wise to go alone. If we have to defeat BJP then all the secular parties should join hands. My only suggestion is Congress should not use the language it is using now.” The Hitavada tried to contact Dushyant Chaturvedi Contact Head of Nagpur Shiv Sena but his phone was not reachable. According to Shiv Sena sources the final decision would be taken by Shiv Sena Paksh Pramukh and Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. Sena feels all three parties should contest elections together. If everybody wants to contest independently it would not stop anybody. The sources have made it clear that Shiv Sena is fully prepared to contest polls all alone.
