Conmen dupe Nagpur resident by promising to multiply money

Nagpur, Jun 17 (PTI) Claiming to possess the power to multiply money by performing some rituals, two persons duped a city resident of Rs 7.11 lakh, police said on Friday.Arifuddin Qazi (49), the complainant, was told by a friend that he knew two `pundits" who can convert Rs 1 lakh into Rs 1 crore by performing a puja, an official said.Qazi asked him to invite them to his office, he said.The two men visited Quazi"s office on Thursday afternoon and asked him to place Rs 7.11 lakh in front of them as they performed some rituals.Then they asked him to close his eyes for three hours, and said the amount would be converted into Rs 7 crore.When Qazi opened his eyes after three hours, he found bundles of toy currency in front of him while the two men had vanished from the spot, the police officer said.Dhantoli Police registered a case under IPC section 420 (cheating) and further probe is on, he added.
