Nagpur feels the chill, cold wave to prevail for next 48 hrs

Nagpur Met Office has issued a warning that the cold wave condition will continue to prevail in Nagpur for atleast next 48 hours. The city has been witnessing cold wave condition since Thursday morning. Temperatures will increase gradually for the next 24 to 48 hours, but cold day conditions will prevail over the entire region. It is only after 48 hours that the region will be relieved from cold day conditions. Besides, entire Vidarbha is in the grip of cold wave.

Nagpur: The winter chills are set to deal more pinch to Nagpurians this winter season. The city has been witnessing cold wave condition since Thursday morning. Nagpur Met Office has issued a warning that the cold wave condition will continue to prevail in Nagpur for atleast next 48 hours. Besides, entire Vidarbha is in the grip of cold wave. Most parts are observing cold day conditions where the minimum temperatures are 4-6°C below normal. Apart from Nagpur, Buldhana, Amravati and Akola are also witnessing temperatures below 10°C. In fact, most areas of Maharashtra witnessed a chilly morning on Thursday as the temperatures below 10°C was observed. Pune witnessed temperatures of 7.4°C, whereas Nashik saw temperature plummeting to 6°C. This drop in temperatures is due to cold and dry northeasterly winds, but soon this is likely to change. Change in winds pattern is expected and minimums are likely to rise. Temperatures will increase gradually for the next 24 to 48 hours, but cold day conditions will prevail over the entire region. It is only after 48 hours that the region will be relieved from cold day conditions.
