Nagpur: Akola boys Vikram Kate (score: 673, AIR: 66) and Sharva Patil (score: 657, AIR: 214) have emerged as Vidarbha toppers in the recently declared NEET results. Kate also achieved an AIR 7 in the OBC category.Speaking to TOI, Kate said, "One should have confidence in self and focus on his or her strength. Hard work always pays." Expressing his contentment, Patil, who is Akola guardian minister Dr Ranjit Patil's son said, "My main aim was to make my parents happy and bring smiles on their faces. That is my real achievement."The city toppers were Nikhil Sangtani at the first place with Minal Ghotkar and Shubhi Shukla achieving the second and third position in the city.Data released by CBSE shows that this year the top positions are dominated by boys though the number of girls qualifying the examination was higher."The exam was tough, but the real journey of the students begins now. They should choose their colleges carefully and work harder to become good doctors," said Anita Wankhede of Wankhede Madam's Academy. Similarly, Arvind Mohan, Nagpur centre head of Akash Institute said, "We hope our students bring laurels to the state and country."CBSE has released dates for the admission procedure in medical and dental colleges across the city.The admission procedure starts on June 28 and will continue till August 31.
