Nagpur: He wrote an entire text based on thoughts of Mahatma Gandhi, but with a difference. Ganesh Narayanrao Dumare, 37, made it to the India Book of Records for writing an entire paragraph upside down. He didn't just make a record, he introduced a new category. Dumare was given the gold medal and certificate after he demonstrated his skills at CISFA Ki Chhoti Gallery, Laxmi Nagar, on Tuesday afternoon.Dumare, on a seating table, started to write the text upside down as dictated by Professor Santosh Khadse of Chitrakala Mahavidyalaya. Dumare had chosen the option of dictation over reading the text by himself. He wrote in a way in which audience could read up front. In nearly seven minutes, he finished writing the 142 word text with a cut nib pen, used for calligraphy. Dumare is a handwriting coach who takes short courses and has conducted workshops with several schools and organizations in the city.A resident of Ayodhya Nagar, he started the practice of writing upside down since 2012, he says, when he took tuitions for his students, and wrote in their books as they sat opposite him. "When I used to coach, I was required to show students how to write. Instead of taking their book from them, I would start writing seating opposite them, but in a way in which they would be able to read properly," he says.Dr Manoj Tatwadi, Adjudicator India Book of Records, announced Dumare's victory, and said that the process took time because Dumare made the organization create a new category altogether. "It is important that unique and different skills come to fore. People of Nagpur are making their city proud," he said. The record had no relation with Dumare's handwriting and wasn't time bound. However, Dumare wrote in beautiful cursive handwriting. He had applied for the record nearly four months ago, and will now try hand in claiming international records. CISFA secretary Nikhil Mundle was the chief guest of the event. Professors Sanjay Pande, Vijay Mankar and Shashikant Dhokne were special invitees at the event. The invitees also shared their surprise at Dumare's ability.
