Nagpur: Nagpur girl Ketki Kulkarni has been selected for a three-year diploma in dramatics of the prestigious National School of Drama, Delhi. The 20-year-old has displayed her acting skills in various competitions such as Maharashtra State Theatre Competition, Purushottam Karandak, Kamgar Natya Spardha, Mahapour Karandak, Swatantra Karandak and its likes.Ketki, a resident of Koradi, chose Bhopal centre for admission. The applicants were tested on the basis of Mono acting, a spontaneous monologue, poetic performance, dancing and singing. "There were about seven judges in the first round. The second round had 25 judges. It was a bit scary," she laughs.In the second round, a five-day workshop was conducted in the NSD campus in New Delhi itself, where 143 theatre artistes had been invited. Of those, 26 were selected and Ketki was one among them. "After giving us sessions on 'Improvisation, singing, dancing and others', a personal interview was conducted. On the last day, we had to present a production in groups," she says..Ketki, who believes that mono-acting and spontaneous performance has been her strong point, has been associated with theatre since childhood. Her mother Anjani Kulkarni is also a theatre artiste and a strong support for Ketki, who says this was possible because of her parents' encouragement. Ketki has completed BCom from LAD college and will be reporting at the Delhi campus on July 23.
