"Now we are adding three more new specialities this year, neurology, oncology (cancer) and cardiology (heart). The cardiology and neurology specialities will start in full-fledged manner as all required equipment and manpower is available. But for oncology, radiation will start a little later. Chemotherapy and surgery will start immediately," Dr Pawar said. The 12 posts sanctioned by the cabinet include doctors who have either DM or M.Ch degrees with them and are qualified in that particular super speciality. The other posts below these posts (80 doctors and 122 nurses) were cleared by a high powered committee appointed earlier by the government.Dr Pawar said that since Amravati has a lot of tribal population too it deserved to have a super speciality hospital. "I have seen that people from the district don't even want to go to Nagpur for their treatment even if they are transported by the government. Hence it is all the more necessary to have a super speciality hospital in the district. Hence the government has given a clear instruction for launching the hospital as a full super speciality hospital," he said.
