CBSE wants schools to get safety audit done by cops

The circular stresses that for non-teaching staff, police verification and evaluation is to be done very carefully and in a detailed manner.

To ensure that schools don't treat this circular as just another advisory, the CBSE has asked schools to file a report about the developments within two months.Schools, however, are apprehensive about police agreeing to do a premises audit. A principal, who did not wish to be named, said, "We have never heard about anyone getting this done from the police and doubt that even they would be willing. What are the parameters which the CBSE wants an evaluation on and whether the police would have the manpower to come and check all schools are some of the questions that immediately come to my mind. Hopefully, the CBSE will allow private agencies to carry out the audit."Schools have also been asked to ensure that police verification and psychometric evaluation is done for all staff members.
