Onion prices up 9% in 2 days

done...Nashik: The average wholesale onion prices at Lasalgaon APMC has increased by 9% during the past two days. But the supply will increase by January 20," said onion trader Manoj Jain.The average wholesale prices have increased to Rs 3,380 per quintal on Thursday, against Rs 3,100 per quintal on Monday. "The arrival of onions has dropped by 50% in the past few days. The retail prices have touched Rs 50 per kg in Nashik, while it is in the range of Rs 60 to Rs 70 in metro cities like Mumbai and Delhi.The wholesale prices are above Rs 3,000 per quintal even one-and-a half month after the government fixed a minimum export price of $850 per tonne. Around 12,000 quintals of onions were auctioned at Lasalgaon on Thursday.
