Nashik: Police have registered a case against BJP MLC Apoorva Hiray and others for allegedly taking out a procession on the occasion of Shiv Jayanti without permission on Monday.Apart from Hiray, the Mumbai Naka police have booked Sunil Bagul, Karan Gaikar, Suresh Patil, Chandrakant Bankar, Shivaji Sahane and others under IPC section 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant).Police claimed that the organisers had sought permission only for ‘Guard of Honour’ to Chhhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and not for procession.The organisers took out a procession from Anant Kanhere Maidan (Golf Club), Nashik even as police did not grant permission for the rally from that venue.Reacting to police action, the BJP MLC said that they had met minister of state for home Ranjeet Patil during his visit in Nashik a few days ago and got his permission for the procession from Anant Kanhere Maidan to Ramkund.“However, police still did not give permission for reasons best known to them.”Hiray claimed that police did not grant permission for the procession only because it was not a traditional one.
