Nashik: A woman , hailing from Nandurbar, has been booked for forging a social media account of the complainant and uploading his photographs.A case has been registered with Satpur police station by the complainant identified as Tanmay Shewale under the section of 66-C (Punishment for identity theft) of Information Technology Act, 2000. Interestingly, the accused woman had registered a similar complaint against the accused earlier.According to police, both the cases were registered on Friday at an interval of one hour. The first case was registered by the woman who claimed that Shewale, a resident Ashok Nagar, created a fake account on the social media (facebook) in her name and posted obscene photographs — causing mental harassment and agony.“The woman has said that Shewale was known to her for quite some time, but there was dispute between the two after which he resorted to creating the fake account. He is also accused of sexually harassing the woman for the past some time,” a police officer said.At the same time, Shewale has registered a counter complaint against the woman, saying that she had created his fake account and was uploading his photos.“Shewale has his own account which is operated by him. However, after the dispute between the two, the woman is alleged to have created a new account in his name. The photos were real but the context in which they were used is misleading as claimed by Shewale,” he added.The police have registered both cases and are investigating into the matter. “We will investigate the matter and law will take its own course,” the officer added.
