Nashik: The stage is set for the adventure cliff ride, a part of the the long distance cycling Nashik Randonneurs Milers (NRM), on Sunday. The event is organised by the Nashik Cyclist Foundation (NCF).NRM was started a year ago by cyclist and NCF president late Jaspal Singh Virdi. The one of a kind cycling event has received altogether 36 entries for Sunday’s event including six women who will take part in the adventure cliff ride. The first NRM was launched on January 14, 2017 with a team of Jaspal Singh Virdi, Ganesh Patil, Dhiraj Chajed and Vikas Jain. This time, they have also introduced a concept called, ‘Ride with the Champion’, where senior cyclist Mohinder Singh (64) will be guiding all riders.NCF president Pravin Khabiya said they wanted to encourage an increasing number of women to participate in long distance cycling. “We have received a total of 36 entries for the event that will include six women as well. This time there will be dams, natural surroundings and a 5-km cliff ride along the route,” he added. A 40-km mini ride was added in January thi s year, so that more people can participate, especially women, an NCF press release said. There has been one NRM ride every month and one Century Ride of 100km that makes a total of 14.
