Parents complain of early deadline for RTE procedures

Only a few days are left for the deadline. We have recently taken action against a number of schools like Indian Public School which is not approved and has no RTE follow up.”He added, “We also recommended cancelling the registration of Emerald Heights where classes were held in the margin space.”

Nashik: Parents applying for their ward's admission to schools this year are in a fix due to the early deadline for filling forms online under Right to Education ( RTE ).The last day for submitting forms online along with the income proof is February 28.The parents who have yet to apply for Aadhaar cards have to stand in queue for the cards and then collect their income certificates.Usually a later date is assigned for the documents. I will go to the NMC again on Monday.”Another parent Dattu Karbhari said that he had to stand in queue for a long time in the Setu office to obtain the income certificate but was given a later date.“We only have a few days left to fill the RTE forms and we are yet to receive our income certificate. There are many people like me who go to the Setu office daily to get their certificates,” said Karbhari.Social activist Jagbir Singh, who is helping people through the RTE process, said, “We started voluntarily helping people with RTE because they are not well equipped. During the process we realised that parents were facing trouble with respect to procuring the income certificate.”An NMC official said that the income proof had to be produced while filling forms online but the documents will have to be submitted at the time of admission.He also said that they have started taking action against schools that are not following RTE.The NMC official said, “We are visiting schools and if we find anything amiss in the RTE process we are taking action. We have recently taken action against a number of schools like Indian Public School which is not approved and has no RTE follow up.”He added, “We also recommended cancelling the registration of Emerald Heights where classes were held in the margin space.”
