Impact assessment of medical colleges soon

MUHS has 346 affiliated colleges, including government and private colleges. The parameters set by the Medical Council of India (MCI) as well as the respective state medical councils will be followed in case of medical, dental, ayurveda, homoeopathy, physiotherapy and nursing colleges.“The ‘impact assessment project’ will cover colleges offering other applied health sciences courses. Grades from A+ to D will be awarded to medical colleges after an inspection by the expert committee,” said Dr Mhaisekar.The assessment will comprise two parts. First, will be infrastructure of the institute and the attached hospital which will carry 700 marks while the second will be on academic parameters, carrying 1,000 marks.“MUHS conducted an orientation programme of affiliated colleges on the impact assessment in May 2018. It was a successful event that helped the college management to know about compliances for the assessment,” said the V-C.Medical colleges in the division are also getting ready for the assessment exercise. “We have been told that the assessment will be on the lines of National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The gradation of colleges will help students make a better choice during admission. This is a welcome initiative and we are eager to be a part of the assessment process,” said a senior management committee member of Dr Vasantrao Pawar Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre.
