NASHIK: An eight-member audit team has been formed to examine the files from the last three fiscals of the town planning department following instructions from the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) chief Tukaram Mundhe.During the audit, it has come to the fore that some of the files of the town planning have gone missing,” highly-placed sources in the civic administration said.“Some of the files of the department are missing. We will come to know about the exact number of files only after the audit is over,” the official added. Mundhe has directed this team to examine all the files to ascertain whether a section of the town planning department had resorted to any kind of anomalies for vested interest as there is huge pendency of files in that department. The files that are being examined are related to commencement certificates, building completion certificate, occupancy certificates and Transfer of Development Rights (TDR) among others. The audit team member admitted that it’s surprising that some of the files are missing. “We apprehend that the files have been deliberately misplaced as there could be financial irregularities,” added the official. The town planning department of NMC is under the scanner after the Greenfield Lawn issue. During the searches, close to 1,461 files of the town planning department of last three months had been found pending last week. Hence, the municipal commissioner Mudhe ordered the audit department to inspect all files of town planning department. Mundhe has already issued ‘show cause’ notice to five senior officials of the NMC about delay by the town planning department officials to convey information about the high court’s stay order on demolition of encroachment of Greenfield lawns.
