Aadhaar operators oppose plans of centres in banks

CLEARED SKHERNashik: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has set up Aadhaar centres in 29 banks and two post offices in Nashik city in the last six months and moved out of the government offices.“None of the consumer facilitation centres (CFCs) of Mahaonline have been given authorisation. The UIDAI has made the norms very strict and operators found working beyond the government office-timings have been blacklisted and their permission is not renewed.The Aadhaar centre operators said they had invested huge amounts for the set-up. At present, more than100% of citizens counted in the 2011 Census have their Aadhaar numbers.

CLEARED SKHERNashik: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has set up Aadhaar centres in 29 banks and two post offices in Nashik city in the last six months and moved out of the government offices.“None of the consumer facilitation centres (CFCs) of Mahaonline have been given authorisation. Instead, Aadhaar centres have been sanctioned in 29 banks and 2 post offices. The UIDAI has decided to shut the centres currently operating in the government centres,” said a district official of the rank of deputy collector.The move has not gone down well with the operators running centres at government offices, saying it is unjust. Some operators told TOI that they are planning to submit a memorandum to the authorities to register their protest.“We are also coordinating with our counterparts across the state to protest in an unified manner,” said another Aadhaar operator, running his operator in one of the premises of Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC).At present, there are 135 Aadhaar centres functioning in the city. The UIDAI has made the norms very strict and operators found working beyond the government office-timings have been blacklisted and their permission is not renewed.The Aadhaar centre operators said they had invested huge amounts for the set-up. “We have worked overtime to get Aadhaar numbers for the citizens. At present, more than100% of citizens counted in the 2011 Census have their Aadhaar numbers. There are still a large number of people who want to update their credentials or even register for fresh ones,” another operator said.
