Nashik: Students in Maharashtra to confirm their admission to professional courses in private and non-aided colleges in the state should check whether their college charges fees as approved by the Fees Regulatory Authority (FRA).The FRA has clarified that no private college can charge additional fees under unauthorized heads like ‘Library Fees’, or ‘Laboratory Fees’. FRA issued a list of unauthorized heads under which colleges should not charge fees.Colleges can charge fees only under two heads – ‘Tuition Fee’ and ‘Development Fee’. All private engineering, health sciences, management, law, pharmacy and agriculture colleges come under the purview of FRA.“All such colleges are bound to get FRA approval for their fees structure within the given timeframe. FRA scrutinizes the proposed fee structure of colleges and gives its approval accordingly. The list of college-wise approved fees has been made available at the official website of FRA. Students should gather information about the approved fees from the website. On clicking this link, users are redirected to ‘Fees Approval System 2018-19’ where they can search institute-wise fees.In the Higher and Technical education sector, users can find fees for applied art, architecture, diploma in hotel management, pharmacy, engineering, management (MBA), computers (MCA), polytechnic, and law courses.In Medical sector, they can search fees of colleges offering courses in various health science fields – right from MBBS to Unani.If candidates find any irregularity in the fees structure offered by their college, they can register a complaint online on fra.govmh@gmail.com or contact FRA office in the Government Polytechnic Building, 305, third floor, 49, Kherwadi, Vandre (East), Mumbai – 400051.
