IMD forecasts heavy rain for north Maharashtra, Nashik still dry

NASHIK: Though the monsoon has been vigorous over most parts of the state in the last two days, Nashik has remained mostly dry.On Saturday, the city received just 3.7mm rain till 5.30 pm.
According to the figures from the disaster management cell of the district collector's office, Igatpuri received 83mm rain while Trimbakeshwar received 36mm rain on July 7.Till date, Igatpuri has received 325mm rain in July against its monthly average of 1340mm.
With three more weeks to go in July, IMD expects the rainfall activity to slowly gain momentum in the upcoming weeks.
Therefore, we expect rainfall activity to continue with moderate to heavy rain along with few extremely heavy showers," said R B Mankar, senior official from Nashik's IMD observatory.As per private weather forecast website Skymet, rainfall activity will increase over Marathwada and North Madhya Maharashtra in the next 24 hours.
