NASHIK: New Bytco Hospital that is an extension of the old hospital is being developed into a super specialty hospital for the needy. The hospital is almost completed with the finishing works underway. Nashik Municipal Corporation is now contemplating if NMC’s medical practitioners should be appointed or the staff should be hired through outsourcing. The topic was discussed when a proposal was presented to the standing committee for installation of additional fire fighting equipments in Bytco Hospital owing to which the fire department’s work has been stopped. The civic administration has proposed Rs 17.76 lakh for this purpose in addition to Rs 1.42 crore of the total cost. The new Bytco Hospital that is an extension of the 50-year-old Bytco hospital was approved in 2010, the work started in 2012 after lot teething problems and red tapeism.Corporators said that the work should have been completed two months back and were concerned about the additional expenses.“There is no additional cost. Civil work has been completed. But the planning has not been done for the purpose why it has been constructed. Which department should be located where has not been planned. There will be 11 indoor patient departments, 4-5 outdoor patient departments, two operation theatres. We planned all these in two months. There was confusion about number of beds and their location. First it was meant to be only hospital and then medical college and then hospital. There were many changes. The costing has been done due to required changes,” Mundhe said.Corporators were concerned about the delay in administering treatment to the patients.“Air conditioning, electrification etc need to be done. The complaints about fire department preferring one agency also turned out to be wrong. We will complete all the work after giving Rs 2-2.5 crore tender for remaining work and then will take policy decision on whether to employ NMC doctors or do it through outsourcing. There are many complains that doctors in NMC hospitals are not giving proper treatment and this is a super specialty hospital,” Mundhe said.
