30 of PimpriSwargate Metro route construction in PCMC limits complete

PIMPRI CHINCHWAD: The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation has completed 30% of the construction of the Pimpri-Swargate route in Pimpri Chinchwad.Work on the route in PCMC limits had begun in June 2017, as most of the route is aligned along the middle of the Pune-Mumbai highway. We have also deployed a quick response team to solve traffic congestion,” he added.“We laid foundations for 159 pillars in PCMC limits, and also completed piers for 114 pillars. “It is a 10-lane highway and we are using the 2-3 lanes in the middle, which is not affecting traffic. Also, the construction of 50 pillars with pier caps has been completed,” Birhade said. Also, the construction of the station at Sant Tukaramnagar has begun,” he added.

The pillars are being erected mostly on the median. Along Nashik Phata Chowk, the pillars are being raised on both sides due to the two-storied flyover, and also in Kharalwadi and Morwadi due to the Pimpri grade separator.“MahaMetro received possession of the land in the express corridor from PCMC quickly, so work had started early,” said Gautam Birhade, chief project manager of the Range Hills-Pimpri section. “It is a 10-lane highway and we are using the 2-3 lanes in the middle, which is not affecting traffic. We have deployed security guards at the affected stretch of the highway to guide people. We have also deployed a quick response team to solve traffic congestion,” he added.“We laid foundations for 159 pillars in PCMC limits, and also completed piers for 114 pillars. Also, the construction of 50 pillars with pier caps has been completed,” Birhade said. “We have also begun installing girders on the pillars near Kharalwadi; we have completed 13 spans. Also, the construction of the station at Sant Tukaramnagar has begun,” he added.
