3 die in diarrhoea outbreak in Nashik village

Namdeo Gangurde (60) died during treatment that day.The next day, a fresh batch of 60 villagers was rushed to different hospitals for treatment. NASHIK: Three elderly people died and 155 others have been treated in the past three days in Rahude village of Nashik district after an acute diarrhoeal disease outbreak.Health officials said the main reason for the outbreak was the contamination of the village well, which is the only source of drinking water there. Sitaram Pithe (70) and Bashira Lilke (60) passed away on Wednesday.Cases of acute diarrhoea are being reported from other parts of the district too. Filthy water from a nearby nullah reportedly entered the well through a crack in its wall.The tribal village in Surgana taluka has a population of about 850. On July 8, 75 villagers complained of acute stomach pain, coupled with continuous vomiting and watery stools.
