According to the IMD, moderate showers will continue in Nashik for the next two-three days while some places in district are due for heavy to very heavy rains.The city has been receiving on and off rains for the last three-days, but the major rainfall activity resumed on Saturday evening. Due to some rigorous spells of rain during the night, the city had received 52.2 mm rain by 8:30 am on Sunday.Low to moderate intensity showers continued to lash the city incessantly on Sunday. Out of these, Igatpuri and Trimbakeshwar rain is very useful to increase the dam water level as these places fall in the catchment areas of major dams,” said R B Mankar, senior official in the weather observatory. “However, in Nandgaon, Malegaon, Deola, Kalwan, Yeola and Niphad the rain is still scarce. Hopefully, these tehsils will receive good rainfall in the next 48 hours, as the weather systems suggest more rain for the district,” Mankar added.Mumbai office of the IMD has issued heavy rainfall warning for North Maharashtra on July 15, 16 and 17. “Heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places in the districts of Nadurbar, Dhule, Jalgaon and Nashik,” says the IMD warning.According to the IMD, a cyclonic circulation is persisting over South Coastal Gujarat and adjoining regions at lower troposphere. Simultaneously, an off shore trough is running along Maharashtra Coast to Kerala Coast. As an outcome of these weather activities, heavy to very rainfall will continue along the costal Maharashtra and Central/North Maharashtra will receive moderate rains.Private weather forecast website Skymet has also predicted that moderate rains will continue in North Maharashtra. “Central Maharashtra will receive light to moderate rain at many places,” says Skymet.
