Fix highway NHAI tells toll operators

Motorists, especially two-wheeler riders, face a tough time as the potholes are filled with water and invisible. Besides, changing of lanes by four-wheelers and two-wheelers to avoid potholes poses serious risk. Abhay Kulkarni of Nashik First that operates the Traffic Education Park at Mumbai Naka said that while certain areas of the highway have developed potholes, the situation is serious near Kalamboli in Thane district , where the work of flyover is under way.Kulkarni said that he also spoke to some highway officials who assured him that the road would be repaired at the earliest.Apart from cars and trucks, a large number of two-wheeler riders also commute on the highway. NASHIK: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has instructed toll operators to take up repairing work of the Mumbai-Agra highway, following complaints of potholes.The NHAI officials said on Wednesday that the toll operators across the highway in their jurisdictions have been instructed to take up the work of filling the potholes at the earliest.“Although the repairs and maintenance of the highway is a continuous process by the toll operators, the incessant rains has caused damage to the highway.”Abhijeet Patil, a resident of Nashik Road and native of Jalgaon, said he recently came from Jalgaon by the highway and found huge potholes near Malegaon, Umrane, Chandwad Ghat and at many other places till Nashik.Patil said that it should not take more than two-an-a-half hours to reach Nashik from Malegaon but it took him almost four hours to reach because of the poor road condition.Meanwhile, there are also complaints about potholes on the Mumbai side from Nashik City.
