18 selfhelp groups to provide meals to kids at 277 Anganwadis

In Panchavati division, seven SHGs had submitted proposals for 49 anganwadis and seven were approved.In Satpur division, two SHGs had submitted proposals for 50 anganwadis and two were approved. In New Nashik division, two SHGs had submitted proposals for 66 anganwadis and one was approved. These have been merged with other Anganwadis nearby, according to a resolution of the state government.In East division, six SHGs had submitted proposals for 58 anganwadis. In West division, two SHGs had submitted proposals for 17 anganwadis and one was approved. Of the 24 SHGs that submitted proposals, 18 were approved.

NASHIK: Eighteen self-help groups with relevant experience were chosen to provide nutritious meals to children in Anganwadis in the city during the meeting of the Nashik Municipal Corporation’s Woman and Child Welfare Committee.The meeting was chaired by corporator Kaveri Ghuge on Tuesday. Additional municipal commissioner Kishor Borde and deputy municipal commissioner Haribhau Phadol were present, along with members of the Woman and Child Welfare Committee.“Women self-help groups will be providing nutritious meals to children at Anganwadis. Of the 24 SHGs that submitted proposals, 18 were approved. The quality of the meals will be checked before they are given to children and women,” an NMC official said.There are around 277 anganwadis in the city. Recently, NMC closed down 40 as their strength was less than 20. These have been merged with other Anganwadis nearby, according to a resolution of the state government.In East division, six SHGs had submitted proposals for 58 anganwadis. Four were approved. In West division, two SHGs had submitted proposals for 17 anganwadis and one was approved. In Nashik Road division, five SHGs had submitted proposals for 37 anganwadis and three were approved.Last year there were around 14,000 women and children attending Anganwadis, according to data from the civic administration.The NMC is in the process of procuring data of all children at Anganwadi centres through 20,000 forms mentioning various criteria, including details of parents. This will help to access precise data and also aid in transparency in the functioning of the Anganwadis.
