57651 names deleted in Nashikrsquos draft electoral roll

NASHIK: The constituency of BJP’s city unit president and MLA Balasaheb Sanap, Nashik (East) has witnessed slash in numbers of voters by 13,469, while voters in Igatpuri assembly constituency represented by Nilima Gavit of Congress has witnessed an addition of 1,198 names to the list.The district election office, which is currently carrying out the special summary revision programme to add new voters, correct addresses of already existing voters and weeding out duplicate or double entries, has during the January – August 2018 period deleted 57 ,651 names from the 15 assembly constituencies in the district.“In the current draft electoral roll up for display across all election centres, the election office has weeded out several names that were not traced at their registered addresses,” Ganesh Rathod, officer with the District Election Office (DEO) said.The administration has also added 2,464 electors to the tally in three assembly constituencies, led by Igatpuri.The district election office had deleted over 1.50 lakh names during the summary revision programme ending January 1, 2018.
