Nashik Construction amount for Greenfields wall under question

NASHIK: The Nashik Municipal Corporation spent Rs 20 lakh to construct the wall of Greenfields Lawn on the Blue Line due to non-compliance of a stay order by Bombay high court. Corporators demanded that concerned officials pay the amount.The NMC had demolished the construction of Greenfield Lawns on May 23 as it was in the Blue Line. The owner had sent a letter to the NMC through his lawyer mentioning about the stay from the high court. Its reputation also got maligned for not following court orders due some officials. Once they give their explanation we will fix responsibility and then take action.”

NASHIK: The Nashik Municipal Corporation spent Rs 20 lakh to construct the wall of Greenfields Lawn on the Blue Line due to non-compliance of a stay order by Bombay high court. Corporators demanded that concerned officials pay the amount.The NMC had demolished the construction of Greenfield Lawns on May 23 as it was in the Blue Line. The owner had sent a letter to the NMC through his lawyer mentioning about the stay from the high court. But the demolition was carried out nevertheless as the letter did not reach civic chief Tukaram Mundhe.The owner filed contempt of court and thereby the HC ordered NMC on May 25 to re-construct the demolished part of Greenfields Lawn.Three officials were found guilty of violating the stay order in the case by concealing the letter from Mundhe. Then assistant director town planning Akash Bagul, executive engineer P B Chavan and assistant engineer Ravindra Patil have been held responsible by Mundhe.Corporators demanded that the guilty officials should be made to pay the money NMC had to spend for re-constructing the wall it demolished.“NMC incurred financial loss of Rs 20 lakh. Its reputation also got maligned for not following court orders due some officials. The amount should be extracted from them,” said Mushir Sayyed a corporator.Other corporators echoed his demands and asked for an explanation.Deputy municipal commissioner (administration) Mahesh Bacchav said, “We have sent notices to the concerned officials. Once they give their explanation we will fix responsibility and then take action.”
