Nashik: The BJP called a meeting to discuss the city bus service and Greenfield development issues but the regular topics took a back seat as a war of words broke out between the MLAs and corporatorsThe infighting among party members surfaced with corporators accusing MLAs of speaking for some gain to threatening to quit the party, during the meeting at the mayor’s official residence, Ramayan. The major contention among the ruling BJP corporators has been municipal commissioner Tukaram Mundhe’s style of functioning. They have been complaining to seniors, including guardian minister Girish Mahajan, that they were being sidelined by Mundhe ever since he took charge of the NMC.The arguments and disgruntlement among the corporators and Mundhe began on the tax hike and rateable tax value, corporator’s (developmental) funds, rejection of proposals, particularly road construction. As if this was not enough, the proposal to start the city bus service to be tabled in the general body meeting on September 19 was the last straw for the corporators, particularly of the BJP, as they felt insulted for not being consulted.Mainly, the proposal does not include traffic committee, which is mandatory. The corporators said that Mundhe did not confide in them while preparing the dockets. They suggested special general body meeting to discuss the bus service.A glimpse of internal bickering among city BJP leaders came to the fore on Saturday with support and opposition for Mundhe at the government guest house in the presence of Mahajan and state president Raosaheb Danve.
