More beds allotted to civil hospital’s swine flu ward

Six of them succumbed to the disease as they were brought to the hospital at the last stage,” Jagdale said.Currently the isolation ward has 18 patients, he added.Ratna Ravkhande, deputy director of health services, Nashik division, said “Swine flu is more concentrated in Nashik. Out of the 25 deaths in the division, two were in Ahmednagar, 17 in NMC limits and six at the civil hospital. No cases were found in Dhule and Jalgaon districts, while one patient has been found in Nandurbar.”Ravkhande said Tamiflu tablets have been made available at all drug stores so that people do not have rush to taluka places or bigger cities.Screening of patients has also been intensified across the district. On Tuesday, 7,652 people were screened in the five districts of the division and in Nashik city. The doctors found 52 patients having swine flu like symptoms and one positive case. Three patients were admitted in the NMC limits and one in Nandurbar on Tuesday.Ravkhande said information on swine flu is being given at the school, college and village levels so that people are aware about its symptoms and the precautions.Senior health officials said they have advised doctors to treat patients with fever above 38 degrees celsius and severe throat pain as swine flu suspects and start Tamiflu tablets on them.
