Nashik: The Adgaon police on Wednesday arrested one more woman in connection with the abduction and forcible “marriage” of a girl six years ago. The victim, who is now 18, had registered a complaint on Monday night.Senior police inspector Suraj Bijli said the arrested woman, Nanda Jadhav of Nandur Naka, had given the complainant food laced with sedatives in 2012 and kidnapped her. She kept the girl confined in her house in the Deolali cantonment for a month before bringing her to Vihitgaon near Deolaligaon, where she was “married” off to Sanjay Singh, a mason from Uttar Pradesh.Finding that the complainant, who had turned 18 on August 17 this year, had two children aged three and two, the Adgaon police registered an offence against eight people for rape, abduction and under sections of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act.Bijli said teams would be sent to UP, where the complainant was living with Singh, to make arrests. The complainant had said that Singh’s brother had also raped her.The complainant and Singh came to Nashik in August for Rakshabandhan.They stayed for a night with Jadhav in Deolali cantonment. However, while returning, she told Singh that Jadhav was not her mother. The couple got down at Manmad and came to Adgaon to meet her mother. However, before they could meet the mother, they had a fight following which Singh left for UP on his own. The complainant and her mother then approached the police.On Tuesday, the police arrested Mangalabai Sapak in whose house in Vihitgaon the “marriage” was done on a bond paper. Sapak is in police custody till September 26. Jadhav has also been remanded in police custody till September 26.
