Thunderstorm alert issued for Nashik 2 other districts

Nashik: The India Meteorology Department (IMD), Mumbai, on Wednesday issued a thunderstorm warning for Nashik, Ahmednagar and Pune districts.Meanwhile, the dry spell during the first two weeks of September in Nashik city came to an end with thundershowers on Tuesday evening.The city received 53 mm rain within two-and-a-half hours on Tuesday evening. The system can be seen marked over east-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining area.” “As expected, the cyclonic circulation in the Bay of Bengal has induced a low pressure area. The city and surrounding areas will receive rain mostly in the evening or at night,” said R B Mankar, senior official of the IMD’s Nashik weather observatory.According to former IITM scientist Kirankumar Johare, the monsoon withdrawal is likely to bring good rain to Nashik city and the dry parts of the district.Private weather forecaster Skymet too has predicted good rain during the next week. Weather experts have forecast more such spells of thundershowers along with lightning for the next week.‘Thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty winds likely at isolated places from 8.30 am on September 19 to 8.30 am on September 20’” said the IMD.Heavy rainfall has been forecast at some places in Nandurbar, Jalgaon and Dhule districts on September 22.“The day temperature is expected to remain below 30 degrees celsius while the night temperature around 20.
