The projects was awarded to NHAI but the work was delayed at least by eight months. After the NHAI expressed its eagerness to start the work in September, the traffic police weighed the options of traffic diversion. Till that work is completed, the vehicular traffic will continue with the current barricading. Necessary diversions will be put in place temporarily as and when required,” the NHAI officials said.Similarly, while the work on pedestrian underpass at Kamod Nagar has already started, the work at SBI Bank, near Rane Nagar, is yet to start.“The work on diversions has begun for an underpass at Kamod Nagar. The SBI underpass will take some time before it begins. But the experiment failed, forcing police to call off the diversions within a few hours.

Nashik: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has finally started the construction work of a flyover across the four chowks starting from Amrutdham on a section of the Mumbai-Agra national highway. The work on the 2.2-km flyover coincides with other works on the stretch of the road in the district, including flyovers at KK Wagh, Ozhar, Vilholi along with the underpass at Kamod Nagar,” senior officials of NHAI said on Thursday .Union transport minister Nitin Gadkari had laid the foundation stone for the project way back in November 2016. The projects was awarded to NHAI but the work was delayed at least by eight months. After the NHAI expressed its eagerness to start the work in September, the traffic police weighed the options of traffic diversion. On September 11, police experimented with traffic diversion which turned out to be disastrous. The entire length of the highway was blocked and the vehicles were forced to take only service roads in both directions. But the experiment failed, forcing police to call off the diversions within a few hours. Now, a different mode has been taken up, ensuring that the traffic moves ahead.“The traffic police have sliced two lanes of the three-lane road on each side by barricading along the length of it between the four chowks – KK Wagh, Amrutdham, Hanuman Nagar and Hotel Jatra. The traffic has been allowed to take one lane to ensure that the work is being carried out smoothly,” said a police officer.“Currently, all the four chowks have been kept open till the time they will be required for closure,” he said.“Currently, the work on construction of pillars along the existing dividers has begun. Vehicles coming from Mumbai will be diverted in the opposite track in both directions at slow speed, when the underpass is created on that side,” said the NHAI officialsThe official added that the same arrangements will be made in the other track. The SBI underpass will take some time before it begins.
