Pandals in city to stay open till midnight this weekend

The relaxation in rules will be applicable for the pandals in Nashik Road, Upnagar and and even for the ones in residential areas.The traffic police have decided to impose regulations on the movement of heavy vehciles at Ravivar Karanja, Panchwati and Shalimar from Saturday. Buses and heavy vehicles moving from CBS towards the Old city will have to use alternate routes.Meanwhile, the high court has reserved its decision on the use of DJ sound systems in the immersion processions. Mandals in the city have started arranging for traditional musical accompaniments like Nashik Dhol, Tasha and Lezim groups.“Though the final decision is expected on Friday, we are least hopeful that the court will permit DJs during the immersion procession. Last year, our immersion procession was accompanied by three leading Dhol groups in the city. We will follow the same this year,” said Rajesh Khatale, office-bearer of Satpur cha Raja Mitra Mandal.
