Hit-and-run: Vehicle knocks down over 7 children at Indiranagar; 1 dies

They are all residents of Mali Galli in Wadala.Pramod Gunjal, the additional civil surgeon at the Nashik civil hospital said: “Tushar Kadam has been moved to a private hospital and the other six have been admitted to different wards of the civil hospital. Meanwhile, Rushikesh Wagh has suffered injuries to his cheekbone and Rahul More has suffered collar bone damage. Jagannath Wagh, grandfather of Rushikesh Wagh said: “The boys had left for the temple around 3am. They were knocked down by an unidentified vehicle in front of the City garden on the road along the Indiranagar jogging track.”Wagh added the incident was first reported by a group of girls, who saw the boys lying injured on the road. Amit Khode has been moved to the intensive care unit as he has suffered a fracture in his left leg.

Nashik: An 11-year boy was killed and seven other children injured after an unidentified vehicle rammed into the group in Indiranagar on Sunday.The children - all below 15 - were walking to the Kalika temple to offer Navaratri festival prayers, when they were knocked down by the vehicle.All the victims were rushed to the Nashik civil hospital, where Vishal Pawar, a resident of Wadala was declared brought dead.The others who have suffered serious injuries have been identified as Rushikesh Wagh (10), Amit Khode (14), Krushna Khode (9), Rahul More (15), Shaheel Kadale (14), Rohan More (12) and Tushar Kadam (15). Both are undergoing treatment in the emergency ward of the hospital."Gunjal added the injured were all stable.The group of boys were on their way to the Kalika temple to offer prayers. Jagannath Wagh, grandfather of Rushikesh Wagh said: “The boys had left for the temple around 3am. All are from the KBH Marathi school in Wadala. They were knocked down by an unidentified vehicle in front of the City garden on the road along the Indiranagar jogging track.”Wagh added the incident was first reported by a group of girls, who saw the boys lying injured on the road. The girls too were on their way to the temple from Wadala. Wagh said the children were too traumatised to recall details from the accident.Senior police inspector at the Mumbai Naka police station, Manoj Karanje, said cases of causing death by negligence and rash driving have been registered against the unidentified vehicle. Karanje said a search was on to track down the vehicle.Lakhs of people visit the Kalika temple daily for a darshan during the Navratri festival. Many devotees start walking to the temple early in the morning.
