NASHIK: Narayan Vaidya , 78, of Adgaon Shivar approached police with a complaint saying he was robbed of Rs one lakh. The robbery occurred at Panchavati , when he had withdrawn the money from a nationalized bank and was walking home from Adgaon Naka. The complainant told police that a young man approached him and told him there was a stain on his clothes.Vaidya said he put his bag down to better examine his clothes, when the young man grabbed hold of it and fled. Panchavati police registered a case of cheating.On October 1, a man was cheated of Rs 82,500 in a similar manner. Complainant Rajendra Gaud told police he was walking from the Bhaktidham area of Panchavati, when he was stopped by an unidentified person, about 35 years old, who told him that his shirt and trouser were stained and needed to be washed.Guad said he entered a nearby restaurant and asked for water to wash off the stains. Just as he went to wash the stains, leaving the bag on a table in the restaurant, someone made off with it.On Monday afternoon, a 39-year-old woman who did not wish to be identified by name was robbed of her cellphone and cash of Rs 30,000. The woman was seated in her car on MG Road at around 1.15 pm, when an unidentified man told her some money had fallen outside her car. She alighted to check, and the man stole her purse from inside the car. Sarkarwada police have registered a case of theft.
