Nashik: Municipal commissioner Tukaram Mundhe on Saturday said that the civic body has some expectations from citizens. He was interacting with residents during the weekly ‘walk with commissioner’ event. When the citizens spoke about grievances relating to water supply, drainage, cleanliness and other issues, Mundhe said, “Even the municipal corporation has expectations from citizens just like they expect things from it. People should take up the responsibility of making the city a better place to live.”During the event, people complained that there was no cleanliness in their area; broken branches and twigs were not lifted; drainage chambers are cleaned, but the filth is not lifted. They demanded that old drainage pipelines in Audumbar Nagar should be replaced, branches of trees near Ganpati temple behind New Era School should be trimmed, a solution should be found for the garbage and storm water that accumulates in the residential areas and open plots where garbage is dumped should be cleaned. While answering to their queries Mundhe said, “NMC resolves issues raised by citizens, but it is also the responsibility of each resident to prevent the mistakes citizens commit. Garbage should be disposed of in vans. The issue of garbage will be resolved to a large extent if it is segregated at source, everyone should practice recycle and reuse.”The municipal commissioner appealed to people to avoid using plastic; stop dumping waste on the roadsides; not to park vehicles on roads.“The citizens should follow rules and encourage others to follow as well,” said Mundhe. “If this event receives your support then definitely the city will develop.”The civic chief also appealed to people to register their complaints at NMC e-Connect App or meet him betweem 4 pm and 5 pm at the NMC’s headquarters.
