None booked for violation of SC order on firecrackers

With increased awareness among citizens, didn’t burst firecrackers before and after the permitted time.Nashik rural SP Sanjay Darade said, “All the police stations were given instructions on taking strict action against those found violating SC order on firecrackers. Nashik: The citizens of Nashik as well as the residents of rural areas were generally found abiding by the Supreme Court order on firecrackers during Diwali festival. None has been booked for violating the SC order of bursting crackers on between 8pm and 10pm, police said.“There was no case of bursting firecrackers, other than within the permitted time, registered with any of the police stations across the city,” said DCP Laxmikant Patil.The police officers said that they had spread awareness among citizens about the permissible timing of bursting firecrackers and the types of firecrackers that were allowed. The menace of the loud bangs was largely missing this year, according citizens of Nashik Road area.Police were also seen patrolling the market areas, where firecrackers were being burst by traders and shopkeepers after Laxmi Puja. Further, tight security measures were taken and personnel were deployed in various parts of the district.

As a result, general enthusiasm about bursting firecrackers was found to be less than usual.”Ahead of the Diwali festival, the police had conducted meetings in residential areas to take general precautionary measures to prevent thefts and burglaries and had also informed citizens about the SC directive with respect to firecrackers.Other senior officials, wishing anonymity said they heard some firecrackers being burst other than the given time, however, the concerned revellers could not be traced.Many people said that the use of firecrackers in residential areas was mainly limited to firecrackers without sound.
