So, vehicular traffic from Meher Signal to CBS has been diverted to the adjacent road, which has been divided with spring posts for two-way traffic. But, the two-way traffic has been creating traffic snarls, while the work on the remaining stretch is yet to be taken. In a bid to address the problem, a couple of weeks ago, the police experimented with diversion of traffic so that there is no need to make two-way system on a single road. Thus, vehicles proceeding from Ashok Stambh to CBS will have to go via Raviwar Karanja, Sangli Bank signal, Shalimar and Shivaji Road. Those proceeding towards Trimbak Naka will have to go via Shalimar, Khadkali signal and zilla parishad.Senior traffic officials said the diversion will be brought into effect soon. But, during the night hours when there is less traffic, motorists would not use the diversion and would use the road from Trimbak Naka to Ashok Stambh for going from Ashok Stambh to Trimbak Naka.On this backdrop spring posts have been put to divide the road so that during the night hours those coming from Ashok Stambh side and proceeding towards Trimbak Naka can use the left lane of the divided road.Police said once the spring posts are set up close, motorists would not change the lane by driving through two bollards. The one-way rule would be relaxed from 10pm to 6am or 7am. A final decision on the same would be taken soon.
