Nashik Smart Road first phase to be completed this monthend

NASHIK: The first phase of the 1.1 km Smart Road , a pilot project, from Ashok Stambh to Modak Point (Trimbakeshwar Naka) that started last June will be completed this month-end.This road is expected to be replicated elsewhere as model road. During rainy season it used to be an ordeal for commuters, students, business persons and others.Recently, Nashik Municipal Corporation administration gave a presentation of smart city projects along with their status to guardian minister Girish Mahajan who directed smart city officials to complete the first phase by January-end.“Smart City officials have committed that they would complete the first phase by this month-end. It has been delayed a lot and people are facing inconvenience,” said an NMC officer. It was expected to be completed in October 2018. But has been inordinately delayed causing lot of traffic chaos and inconvenience to people.The Smart Road includes a one-metre wide cycle tracks on both sides of the road, pedestrian crossing, junction development, CCTV, smart pole, smart signal etc for this road, pedestrian walkways on both sides, seating arrangement for senior citizens on the walkways, kiosks providing information on important places of the city, CCTV cameras, underground electric cables etc are in the plan.The district collectorate, district court, central bus stand, educational institutes, commercial complexes, shops, hotels/restaurants and many other establishments are located on this road.
