Mid-day meal, Greenfield project on spl meet agenda

Nashik: Mayor Ranjana Bhansi on Saturday said a special meeting of Nashik Municipal Corporation’s (NMC) general body will be called upon to decide policy decision on providing mid-day meal to municipal school students, Greenfield development and leasing out NMC’s properties as per market rates.The decision came after these three proposals were tabled at the general body meeting on Saturday. “Special meeting of general body will be called shortly to take policy decision on three proposals of civic administration i.e. providing mid-day meal to municipal schools students, Greenfield development under smart city project at Makhmalabad and leasing out NMC’s own properties at market rates,” Bhansi said.As per civic administration’s proposal, mid-day meals are to be provided to 26,000 students from primary and secondary schools of municipal corporation under Central Kitchen Scheme.The meal is to be provided by Bangalore-based NGO Akshaypatra Foundation. The NMC has not to spend on the project , but will have to provide space to the NGO for preparing the meal. The special GBM will take a call on the issue.Moreover, the civic administration had also tabled the proposal of developing Greenfield project at Makhmalabad under the Smart City project. A policy decision is also to be taken in this regard.The project-affected farmers from Makhmalabad had halted the survey work on Friday and also expressed protest for tabling the project directly at meeting before completion of the survey by municipal corporation.Apart from this, the civic administration has also proposed leasing out its own properties as per market rates. Currently, the NMC has given most of its properties to social outfits and NGOs at nominal rates for social cause. But some outfits are using the properties for commercial purpose.As per the Government Resolution (GR) issued by the Urban Development Department of the state government, the lease amount of municipal properties should not be less than market rates.Hence, the civic administration had sent the proposal to the standing committee of NMC for its approval. But the standing committee sent this proposal on GBM for its approval.
