Nashik: The general body of Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) on Saturday witnessed pandemonium for over 15 minutes on Saturday, following which mayor Ranjana Bhansi called off the proceedings.The ruckus was created after the opposition took objection to tampering of the minutes of the previous general body meeting regarding the bus transport issue.During the previous general body meeting (GBM), held on September 19 last year, the civic administration had tabled a proposal of setting up a transport company for running the city bus service. However, the mayor had given a nod for setting up transport committee instead of the company.A proposal to approve the minutes of the meeting was tabled before the general body on Saturday. Bhansi hurriedly gave approval to the proposal before any discussion took place. This irked the opposition party members in the house and they demanded discussion on the issue, but the mayor denied.Following this members in the house from NCP, Shiv Sena and Congress created ruckus and rushed towards the chair of the mayor who hurriedly declared developmental civic works worth Rs8.5 crore, except policy issues, approved and wound up the meeting.Moreover, opposition parties also expressed their disappointment over mayor and the municipal commissioner Radhakrishna Game for allowing additional 10 proposals on the agenda at the eleventh hour as this practice had been discontinued by the then municipal commissioner Tukaram Mundhe.NCP group leader Gajanan Shelar said we all had opposed the proposal of civic administration running city bus service by the municipal corporation during the GBM held in September last year.“The mayor had ruled to set up a transport committee instead of the transport company. But the minutes of that GBM stated that unanimous decision has been taken to set up a transport company to run the city bus service,” NCP group leader Gajanan Shelar said.“This is against the ruling of the mayor. This is nothing but tampering with the minutes of the meeting,” he alleged.Sudhakar Badgujal from Shiv Sena also upset with this development. The uproar was created as the opposition party members in the house gathered around the mayor in the house.
