NASHIK: Nashik Municipal Corporation invited tender for lifting stray animals four times in the past one year but it has failed garner response.Citizens have been complaining of obstruction to traffic due to stray cattle in various parts of the city. Early in January, the civic administration decided to file first information report against owners who left their cattle loose.The last contract got over on March 31, 2018. Since then there is no mechanism to lift animals on roads.Pravin Joshi, a computer professional said, “I almost bumped into a group of cattle at Indira Nagar. I had to apply brakes of my two-wheeler urgently.”Pratap Gunjal, a senior citizen said that he had a fall at Ganjamal few months back due to cattle.“I sustained bruises because I was riding slowly or else I would have been badly hurt,” he said.“We will resolve the issue in one month,” said an NMC official.Cattle cannot be shifted to Panjrapoles as they have limited capacity and cannot accommodate additional cattle. NMC has animal shelter in four divisions but these are closed. Now there is only big shelter with capacity of 100 animals in Panchavati but NMC lacks manpower.
