NASHIK: Corporator Vaishali Bhosale has presented a proposal to the civic administration to include a mini mall at the Shivaji Garden.The garden in ward 13 of the city is being developed into a theme garden with an amalgamation of Maratha, British and modern eras. There are small trader who have been running their businesses by the wall of the garden.Bhosale said that since the NMC is planning to have food stalls and generate revenue from these, other initiatives can also be implemented to get some more revenue.“Many small traders are selling various items on their establishements set up by the wall of the garden. If a mini mall is constructed here, the NMC will also get a source of revenue,” she stated in the memorandum.She said that being in the heart of the city, the roads are very busy here and that constructing a mini mall would ease the traffic to some extent.One of the oldest gardens in the heart of the city, Shivaji Garden, is being renovated as a Smart Garden under Amrut funds. Recently, the state government sanctioned Rs 4.06 cr for the development of the garden.The garden is spread across four acres of land. “In order to revive the old world charm of the garden, we came up with the idea of a theme garden. The plan is already made by a Pune-based architect. We will soon be implementing it,” said an NMC official.The garden will be on the lines of Shaniwarwada in Pune with Maratha landscape, Jackson Garden and an urban garden with play area for children along with garden play instruments.
