MSRTC to seek passengers’ feedback via social media

Nashik: The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) will form an informal group of commuters travelling by Shivshahi sleeper buses on social media in order to keep in touch with them and get feedback of the services offered.“We have received orders from central office to form an informal group on social media, which will include local MSRTC officisals and commuters of Shivshahi sleeper buses,” a senior MSRTC offcial said.The MSRTC has launched Shivshahi sitting and Shivshahi sleeper coaches across the state. At the same time, the MSRTC launched AC semi-luxury sleeper coach buses for long distance travels.Going a step further, the MSRTC slashed the fares of the sleeper coaches by 25% last week. “There were feedbacks about fares for sleeper coach being very high when compared to the private players. The air conditioned seating coaches have replaced all the non-AC inter-city luxury buses — Hirkani. This was in line with the demand for the drop in fares.

An informal survey and rate charts were collected by the office after which it decided to slash the fares,” the official said.“Since the commuters do not open up on the issues faced by them or the services rendered in an official communication, the idea of opening up of social media group was floated,” the officer added.“In the beginning, we will collect the numbers from selective commuters and study their views and comments. Thereafter, slowly but surely, we will increase the numbers of commuters in the group,” the officer said.The group will help in sharing of knowledge and information between the commuters and the MSRTC officials to overcome short comings in the services provided.“We will be able to directly communicate with the commuters on a regular basis. If there are issues that need immediate attention, the MSRTC administration will be able to solve it,” the officer added.Soon the banners will be put up on the buses appealing for the travellers to share their numbers with the authorities.
