New system of parking clears roads of Deolali Camp

Nashik: The streets of the market area in Deolali Camp saw a new parking system from Friday, launched by the cantonment board.Bikers and four-wheeler drivers were appealed to park their vehicles at the parking spaces earmarked by the CBD. Senior officials said that after taking the board members and citizens into confidence, the pay and park system has been re-launched. However, due to the opposition from residents, the pay and park system was rolled back. However, we will be penalizing those whose vehicles are found parked illegally.”The DCB had started the pay and park system in September last year. The officials said that while they have not started collecting the parking fees yet, they will start collecting it soon.Meanwhile, the officials of the board expressed satisfaction over the new parking system initiated by them it cleared the clutter of vehicles on the streets.

The CBD officials also put jammers on the tyres of illegally parked vehicles, warning of strict action if vehicles were found parked haphazardly on the streets of Deolali Camp.Senior officials of the Deolali cantonment board said that that while the actual parking fee was not collected from motorists, strict action was taken against those found parking their vehicles illegaly.Senior officials of the DCB were present on the streets asking people and shopkeepers to park their vehicles in the parking lots decided by the board. The officials said that while they have not started collecting the parking fees yet, they will start collecting it soon.Meanwhile, the officials of the board expressed satisfaction over the new parking system initiated by them it cleared the clutter of vehicles on the streets. Separate parking lots have been set up for bikes and four wheelers. The parking for two-wheelers has been decided along certain streets on odd and even basis.Four-wheeler owners were asked to park their vehicles in the Sunday Market area, near Deolali Camp Police Station on Wadner Road, on the space opposite the entrance of CBD office and the area near Sayali medical store.A senior officer said, “We did not start collecting the parking fees right away, as we want motorists to get into the habit of parking their vehicles in the specified spaces. However, we will be penalizing those whose vehicles are found parked illegally.”The DCB had started the pay and park system in September last year.
