Lok Sabha Elections: Vikhe Patil loyalists vow to help son sail through on BJP ticket

"The Vikhe Patil family will realize the mistake of letting Sujay contest the polls on a BJP ticket. "We believe that the NCP deliberately wanted to humiliate Radhakrishna as politically his stature is on the rise. At present, Congress have five elected representatives in the Ahmednagar Municipal Corporation. It would have played a crucial role in the assembly polls. "We will work for him behind the scenes and our workers will go all out to help Sujay during his campaign," said an elected representative.He admitted that they owe their presence in the Ahmednagar civic body to the support of the Vikhe Patil family.

NASHIK: The Nationalist Congress Party 's (NCP) reluctance to give the presitigious Ahmednagar constituency in North Maharashtra to the Congress may cost it dear.Congress corporators in Ahmednagar have already indicated that they would support Sujay, son of senior Congress leader Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil , in the Lok Sabha elections After the NCP refused to give the seat to Congress for Sujay to contest polls, he joined the BJP and is likely to be the party candidate. Radhakrishna himself told the media on Thursday that he would not be campaigning for the NCP in Ahmednagar.A Congress corporator from Ahmednagar, who is a known supporter of Radhakrishna, told TOI on Friday that he and three other leaders have decided to work for Sujay to ensure his victory in the polls. At present, Congress have five elected representatives in the Ahmednagar Municipal Corporation."We will work for him behind the scenes and our workers will go all out to help Sujay during his campaign," said an elected representative.He admitted that they owe their presence in the Ahmednagar civic body to the support of the Vikhe Patil family. "All four of us will work for Sujay to prove our loyalty to the Vikhe Patil family," the elected representative said.The leader claimed that their future course of action vis-a-vis Congress would solely depend on the decision Radhakrishna takes.The Congress corporator accused the NCP of deliberately denying Sujay a ticket for vested interests. "We believe that the NCP deliberately wanted to humiliate Radhakrishna as politically his stature is on the rise. It would have played a crucial role in the assembly polls. The NCP leadership wanted to cut him to size and hence deliberately denied his son a ticket," claimed the Congress corporator.former district Congress president and party leader Ghanshyam Shelar said that few party corporators would not be able to make Sujay win. "The Vikhe Patil family will realize the mistake of letting Sujay contest the polls on a BJP ticket. The NCP candidate will defeat him and give a befitting lesson to that family," Shelar said.Sujay met top Shiv Sena leader and former MLA Anil Rathod on Thursday evening and sought their help during the polls.
