Selfies, non-election complaints sent on cVigil

NASHIK: The poll officials have found that the citizens are yet to grasp the functioning of cVigil, the software of the Election Commission (EC), launched to register complaints on model code of conduct violations.cVigil is a mobile application that can be used to capture photos or videos of code of conduct violations by political parties or candidates. The district election office has to resolve a complaint within 100 minutes of it being lodged.Since the implementation of the model code of conduct, the district election office has received nine complaints where the complainants have either sent their selfies or have sent complaints related to the education issues. But we have to complete the action by sending a team of field officers to contact the complainant to find out what was the motive behind sending a selfie ," a senior official said.In one case, the complainant had sent a photo of a letter about some issues in the education system.
