Nashik: The Indiranagar police have booked four people, including two women, for cheating a group of women to the tune of Rs 27 lakh on pretext of a permanent job of nurse in the NMC’s health department.Police said that a woman, identified as Meena Shankarrao Sonawane of Pathardi Phata lodged a complaint against the four suspects. The suspects collected money from different women over the last five years.Police said that the complainant has stated that a social worker and his wife along with two other associates took money from 27 nurses, including her. The women have already been serving in the NMC’s health department on a contractual basis.Over the past five years, the main suspect and his wife, who is also a nurse, took money from the 27 nurses. They were told by the suspected couple that they have minister-level contacts and that they can ensure that their jobs become permanent.Senior police inspector Anil Patil of the Indiranagar police station said, “As the concerned nurses had paid Rs1.5 lakh each to the suspects. Later the suspects returned Rs 50,000 to each of them. But, later started evading them. It has been over five years.”Police said that the wife of the chief suspect is also a contractual nurse and she had encouraged the other contractual nurses to pay the money to her husband for a secure job in the NMC hospitals.Police have so far not arrested any of the four suspects. “The chief suspect is a resident of Indiranagar and moves around as a social worker. We will soon nab the suspects,” police said.Police said that things would be clear once the suspects are arrested.
