Don’t delay requests for water tankers: Collector to officials

Nashik: Nashik district collector Suraj Mandhare has directed local administration in the drought hit talukas of the district not to delay requests for water tankers.The collector was on a tour of Nandgaon, Yeola, Niphad and Sinnar talukas on Friday. During the current situation, we don’t want to lose the cattle, but this will happen only if fodder is available. The taluka has good cattle population which backs up as supportive income for the farmers.

Nashik: Nashik district collector Suraj Mandhare has directed local administration in the drought hit talukas of the district not to delay requests for water tankers.The collector was on a tour of Nandgaon, Yeola, Niphad and Sinnar talukas on Friday. He said that all officials and employees have to stick to the model code of conduct (MCC) and violations would not be tolerated in any case.“Reacting to the requests of the people the collector said that while he would not tolerate MCC violations, he also made it clear that MCC should not hamper the decisions to issue tankers for supplying drinking water across the regions and the regular work,” a senior official from Nandgaon taluka said.Considering the fodder scarcity in Nandgaon, the collector has also directed the officials and department concerned to take measures such that fodder camps would be started as and when required. “After reviewing the cattle population and fodder availability from the officials Mandhare asked them to be sensitive towards the demand of fodder. The fodder camps are likely to begin in the middle of the month of April in Nandgaon taluka,” the official said.On confusions whether the officials could start new works and which works could be undertaken even during the MCC, the collector asked the officials to stick to handbook of MCC instead of postponing the decisions on important works.Meanwhile, farmers from Sinnar taluka have registered their demand for starting of fodder camp in the taluka. “The eastern parts of the Sinnar taluka did not get good rainfall. During the current situation, we don’t want to lose the cattle, but this will happen only if fodder is available. Fodder is too costly and drought-hit farmers cannot afford it,” Sanjay Sangle, a resident of Sinnar, said.“Senior officials have been asked to review the demand and supply situation and start the same at the earliest,” an official from Sinnar taluka said.
