On directives issued from higher ups, local railway officials quickly visited stalls and ensured no such activity in violation of moral code of conduct is taking place.On Friday, Railway officials were stunned upon finding that tea cups with the slogan ‘Main Bhi Chowkidar’ were being distributed.One retired government servant took photographs of the cups and posted them on Twitter, and divisional officials were later asked ensure all such material was withdrawn immediately.“The incident was a one-of-its-kind one that occurred without the knowledge of Railway officials and the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), which offers licence of vending to vendors. Yet we were told to check the premises for any elements that violated the Model Code of Conduct (MCC),” one officer told TOI.Railways ordered officials to check if there were any posters and banners, messages or advertisements carrying photographs or the messages of any of political parties or leaders, whether of the prime minister or the Railway minister on walls, hoardings and other public spaces belonging to the Railways.

Nothing of the sort was found,” an official said.About the tea cup advertisement, the official said, “Since the vendors were different and the material was supplied to them from various places, there were lesser chances of a similar situation here. But we could not take chances and the whole inventory was inspected.” The official added that once the model code of conduct came into force, all messages and posters were taken down.
